An EOS gambling app has been exploited and $200,000 worth of EOS has been stolen by hackers due to a vulnerability on the EOS Blockchain. EOSBet, a well known EOS gambling site based on smart contract functionality was taking offline shortly after the security breach. A spokesperson from EOSBet said:
“A few hours ago, our platform was attacked and up to 40,000 EOS was stolen from our bankroll. This isn’t a minor attack and we are doing everything we can to find out how such an attack was possible. Our services will resume soon.”
Later on, the platform announced that the hack was possible because of a flaw within the coding of one of the games hosted by them. The hackers didn’t just target one game but numerous games using the same faulty code. The hackers got away with the EOS by tricking the transfer funds system using a fake hash.

Before the announcement was made by EOSBet, a member of the EOSBet community talked about it on Reddit. The user uploaded the code that was used by hackers to steal EOS units from the platform. In response, the official EOSBet Reddit account posted:
“Yes, our platform was hacked, but we have discovered the cause just like you have. We urge you to be careful as it is more complicated than you think.”
The hackers created an account that was identical to the original EOSBet wallet so they appeared legitimate when they tried to transfer the funds off the platform. The account received transactions from several EOS accounts along with this message:
“Please refund all the illegal EOS or we will send a team of lawyers to China to pursue all losses and criminal liability to you.”
