About 50 Encryption and Privacy Advocates Protest Arrest of Tornado Cash Developer Alexey Pertsev in the Netherlands

According to The Block, a group of about 50 encryption and privacy advocates protested the arrest of Tornado Cash developer Alexey Pertsev at Dam Square in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His wife helped organize and participated in the demonstration. One should not be responsible for writing open source code, no matter how bad actors use it. In addition, a second protest may be held in London in the next few weeks. Nearly 1,500 people have signed a petition to participate in the protest. Denis Dubnikov, a Russian citizen suspected of involvement in the Ryuk ransomware attack on U.S. citizens, was extradited from the Netherlands to the U.S. to stand trial in Portland on October 4 and could face up to 20 years if convicted, Foresight News previously reported imprisonment.
