The South Korean police will form a new agency to combat cybercrime and develop strategies to deal with the dark web, virtual currency, etc.

The Korean National Police Agency will form a new police agency to deal with cybercrime platforms, and develop strategies and technical means to rectify the dark web, virtual currency, and distributed denial-of-service attacks (DDOS). The agency is composed of an IT professional investigator and a number of police officers. The investigators are selected from the students of the information technology intensive education course jointly organized by the Institute of Science and Technology. The police officers have worked in private information security companies. In addition, the new agency will establish cooperative relations with domestic and foreign cybersecurity agencies such as the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Korea Internet & Security Agency.
