Bitcoin Argentina President Ricardo Mihura presented a proposed legal framework that “recommends the regulation of the cryptocurrency market in a way that preserves decentralization and strengthens public trust” at the LABITCONF 2023 conference in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. Bitcoin Argentina has previously dismissed the idea that the industry needs to be regulated. However, Bitcoin advocates now argue that this is not only a need to protect the blockchain, but also to hold bad actors accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Mihura said: We have always resisted attempts to regulate the crypto economy, but this time we have set ourselves the goal of responding positively, with only two purposes: maintaining decentralization, protecting savings and public trust. We cannot turn a blind eye to the number of dishonest people and projects spreading the blockchain brand.
