Bakkt Appoints Akshay Naheta as Co-CEO Amid Strategic Partnership Plans

According to PANews, Bakkt Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: BKKT) has announced the appointment of Akshay Naheta as Co-CEO alongside current CEO Andy Main, effective March 21, 2025. Naheta, who brings over two decades of experience in the financial and technology sectors, is expected to enhance Bakkt's capabilities in blockchain, financial markets, and payment systems. Naheta's previous roles include serving as an executive at SoftBank Group, where he was involved in significant technology investments such as ARM, Auto1, and Nvidia. Following his tenure at SoftBank, he founded Distributed Technologies Research (DTR) to develop next-generation global payment infrastructure. In addition to the leadership change, Bakkt and DTR are planning to enter into a commercial agreement. This partnership aims to integrate DTR's stablecoin-based payment technology infrastructure with Bakkt's cryptocurrency trading and brokerage technology, pending regulatory approval.
