Opinion: Bitcoin will not stop at $100,000 as more retail investors pour in
Opinion: Bitcoin will not stop at $100,000 as more retail investors pour in
Mikko Ohtamaa, co-founder of algorithmic trading firm Trading Strategy, said: "We have two to three years to prove that cryptocurrencies can make the world a better place. This is the last chance, and this time, we are in good hands. The past 10 years have been pure speculation. Now it's time to move from speculation to real-world utility." Hong Kong market analyst Justin d'Anethan said: "The factors driving our development now include ETF accessibility, corporate purchases, and growing allocations from global institutions. The BRICS economies' abandonment of the US dollar also adds a layer of attraction. In a world that re-evaluates the role of traditional reserve currencies, Bitcoin is positioned as a potential hedge." D'Anethan believes that $100,000 is not the ultimate goal. "Over the past year, Bitcoin's rise has been driven mainly by experienced players: we have seen corporate treasuries (mainly MicroStrategy), the emergence of ETFs, and even pension funds have begun to allocate funds to BTC, all without causing much sensation. Retail investors have not yet poured in, and when this frenzy comes, it will not stop at $10. $100,000." In the short term, Bitcoin could be in a favorable macro environment for risk assets as the Federal Reserve is expected to continue its shift toward rate cuts. "As long as we don't face massive liquidations or unforeseen black swan events from major corporate bankruptcies in 2022, the path of least resistance appears to be upward," Anethan said.
