Spanish police have announced the arrest of the CEO, sales executive and marketing director of cryptocurrency platform Bitzlato for alleged involvement in money laundering. The police operation also included simultaneous raids in France, Portugal, Cyprus and the United States. A total of six people were arrested, all Russian and Ukrainian nationals, as French police deactivated and confiscated technology used to host cryptocurrency platforms. Foresight News previously reported that the U.S. Department of Justice arrested Anatoly Legkodymov, an encryption exchange Bitzlato co-founder, in January for allegedly illegally handling $700 million in funds.
