Celestia's modular Rollup framework product Rollkit (formerly known as Rollmint) announced support for Bitcoin Sovereign Rollup, allowing Rollkit Rollup to use Bitcoin's data availability. Developers can create Rollups with arbitrary execution environments, inheriting the data availability guarantees and security guarantees of Bitcoin. This integration makes it possible to run the EVM on Bitcoin as a Rollkit Sovereign Rollup, expanding the possibilities of Rollups and helping to start a healthy market for block space fees on Bitcoin, ensuring a more sustainable security budget. Rollkit said that this time, the Bitcoin-based Taproot upgrade and Ordinals use Bitcoin to publish arbitrary data. Foresight News notes that in the development process since 2021, Rollkit is now emerging in a neutral and independent manner from the Celestia blockchain, and Rollkit will serve the future modular ecosystem as a community-led public product.
