According to The Block, Ethereum core developers said in the latest developer meeting that the Cancun-Deneb upgrade is expected to take place later this year. The upgrade will implement new changes in the execution layer and consensus layer of Ethereum. The upgrade of the execution layer is called Cancun, and the upgrade of the consensus layer is called "Deneb". The most significant change expected in the Cancun-Deneb upgrade will be EIP-4844, also known as "proto-danksharding", which aims to realize the temporary storage and retrieval of off-chain data through Ethereum nodes to meet the data and security requirements of blockchain applications.
