Odaily Planet Daily News 21co chain data analyst Tom Wan tweeted that the L2 Ethereum penetration rate (Penetration Rate) is as follows:
- Arbitrum: 1.85%
- Optimism: 1.15%
- Base: 0.25%
In terms of "reaching 0.25% penetration", Arbitrum took about 9 months, Optimism took about 8 months, and Base took about 1 month.
It is reported that the calculation method involved in this indicator is as follows:
- the number of Ethereum addresses conducting transactions on L2;
- "New users" on L2, i.e. addresses that are only on L2 but not on Ethereum, are not taken into account.
Note: This indicator may be small because the contract address of the same protocol may be different, such as Aave on Ethereum and Aave on Optimism.
Twitter user hitesh.eth added that the penetration time is also related to the cycle. Since L2 was a new product at that time, the airdrop hunting scene was not prominent, the bear market cycle was at its peak, and the themes of Arbitrum and Optimism needed more time to mature. In the case of Base, Coinbase's network effects, focus on new fundamentals, marketing campaigns all helped, but timing played a key role.
