The Celo development team cLabs launched a new proposal, proposing that Celo migrate from an independent EVM-compatible Layer1 blockchain to Ethereum Layer2, that is, to use the OP Stack to become the Ethereum L2 architecture. This will be a technical upgrade. The key features include: A decentralized sorter driven by validators, using a Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus mechanism; an off-chain data availability layer powered by EigenLayer and EigenDA, operated by Ethereum node operators and protected by re-mortgaging ETH, enabling Celo to Keep fees low; keep Celo's 1 block confirmation design. The community will hold a governance call on July 21st at 8:00 PT, and post the temperature check proposal after the governance call (as early as July 22nd), and further research and refine the proposal, if the community and validators If we reach a consensus, we plan to implement the final implementation through a hard fork. In addition, it is expected that as the next-generation zk-SNARK proof system matures, additional work will be done to upgrade Celo to a highly scalable zk-EVM network.
