A U.S. district judge has ruled that a lawsuit against artificial intelligence image generator Midjourney and digital art community platform DeviantArt will not proceed, ruling that the plaintiffs did not provide enough evidence to support their claims of copyright infringement. Judge William Orrick called the copyright infringement claims "flawed in numerous respects" and granted the defendants' motion to dismiss.
While the lawsuits against Midjourney and DeviantArt have stalled, Orrick did allow a separate infringement claim to be filed against AI developer Stability AI. (Decrypt)
