Powell: If the time is right, monetary policy will be further tightened

Federal Reserve Chairman Powell attended the IMF expert group meeting and delivered a speech. Powell said the Fed would continue to act cautiously. The Fed will not hesitate to further tighten monetary policy if appropriate. Powell expects GDP growth to slow in the coming quarters, but that "remains to be seen." He was satisfied with the progress of inflation, but further pointed out that "there is still a long way to go." Powell also noted that greater progress in inflation in the future may have to come from tighter monetary policy, not just supply-side improvements. (Golden Ten)
