Mainstream currency futures funding rates begin to return to normal levels

Funding rates for major cryptocurrency futures have begun to return to normal levels after recent optimism led to traders paying unusually high fees to maintain long positions. Data show that sharp fluctuations in the spot market caused open interest positions to surge to more than $35 billion at the end of last week, an increase of nearly 40% from the $24 billion level at the end of October.
