In a recent report, California Governor Gavin Newsom emphasized the need for people to master new skills and become familiar with emerging technologies to stay ahead in the field of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).
It has been suggested that California residents should have access to GenAI education and training opportunities. The report states: “To support California’s state government workforce and prepare for the next generation of skills needed for the GenAI economy to thrive, agencies will provide training for state workers to use state-approved GenAI to achieve equitable outcomes. .”
The report cited Goldman Sachs' prediction that GenAI is expected to affect 300 million jobs worldwide, despite potential productivity improvements. “Therefore, the state must take the lead in training and supporting workers to participate in the AI economy and create demand for businesses to set up and hire in California,” the report states.
In addition, the report states that GenAI education programs should start at higher education institutions and vocational schools. (Cointelegraph)
