BlockWorks released an analysis of the Bitcoin promotional video of asset management company VanEck, which is one of the companies applying for Bitcoin spot ETFs. The analysis is as follows:
The ad is set at Pubkey, a Bitcoin bar in New York. In a post on X, Pubkey revealed that people can head to "The NOOK" at the bar to find some leftover souvenirs. VanEck wrote in a follow-up tweet: “Just some refreshments. If Bitcoin enthusiasts in New York haven’t been to Pubkey yet, they need to make the pilgrimage.”
The ad contains many Bitcoin references, from the obvious display of Bitcoiners Coffee from Lightning Koffee to a stack of 11 issues of Bitcoin Magazine. A spokesperson for VanEck confirmed to Blockworks that the skeleton on the left side of the TV is named Tony Sclatonian. Pubkey owner Thomas Pacchia purchased the statue with Bitcoin in 2014.
There is a sign on the wall that says "Buy Bitcoin." This was in response to an incident in 2017 when a member of the audience in the back row of a hearing held a similar sign behind current Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. At the time, Yellen was chair of the Federal Reserve.
There are two playing cards under the card, a 2 and a 7. These two cards are the worst card combination in poker and are used to hint at how many people have discovered Bitcoin if fate had a bad hand. The ad ends with the words “born to bitcoin.”
