According to Foresight News, Anza, a development company spun off from Solana Labs, has announced plans to develop a validator client called Agave. This client aims to maximize the uptime of the Solana network and prepare for the launch of other clients. Anza will also further adopt the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) to build next-generation Web3 protocols through core engineering work.
Previously, Fortune magazine reported that about 45 of Solana Labs' 100 employees are transitioning to a new entity called Anza to help further decentralize the Solana ecosystem. Jed Halfon, former Strategy Director and Consul General of Solana Labs, will serve as Anza's Chief Strategy Officer. Solana co-founder Stephen Akridge and former Solana Labs Operations Director Amber Christensen have also moved to Anza. Anza's current funding comes from grants provided by the Solana Foundation, and Solana Labs holds a 13% stake in the company.
