Craig Wright has made new allegations against several members of the cryptocurrency community during a trial in the UK High Court. At the same time, he himself was accused of giving inconsistent statements in court. The case involves a lawsuit in which he claims to have invented Bitcoin, and his cross-examination is still ongoing. The Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA) is a non-profit organization backed by cryptocurrency players such as Coinbase, Microstrategy and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. The group sued Craig Wright in 2021, accusing him of committing "massive forgery" while trying to prove he was Satoshi Nakamoto.
Jonathan Hough of COPA's law firm Bird & Bird LLP asked Craig Wright to stop making "frivolous accusations" and "answer questions." Craig Wright just accused COPA members of turning Bitcoin into a “speculative coin” scam. When Craig Wright protested, presiding judge James Mellor intervened, saying that arguments about the current state of the Bitcoin system were not helpful in his decision and that the case focused on whether Wright was Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous author of the Bitcoin white paper.
