Base plans to increase its target throughput by 50% starting tomorrow and reach at least double the current target next week

Base developer Roberto Bayardo posted on the X platform: "Last week I said that we could double the execution throughput of Base without any problems, but also pointed out that caution is needed before taking any action. We performed on-chain benchmarks on typical hardware used by current node operators, simulating the effect of increasing our orderer throughput to three times the current target. In this benchmark, we evaluated 2x and 3x gas target increases from a node operations perspective and found that CPU usage increased, but within a suitable threshold. These results leave us satisfied with the following plans: Starting tomorrow, March 27th local time, we will increase our target throughput by 50% and observe the impact. If all goes well, the goal next week is to increase throughput one more time, to at least double today's goal. Node operators need to pay close attention to their nodes during this period and please inform them in time if they encounter any problems.
