According to official news, Paradigm announced the open source of Reth AlphaNet.
Reth AlphaNet is a compatible Rollup based on the OP Stack standard, designed to maximize the performance of the Reth client and support the trial of cutting-edge research results of Ethereum. AlphaNet has the following characteristics:
1. As a testnet Rollup, it does not hold any real asset value. Paradigm may reset the network periodically to introduce breaking changes.
2. It has taken the lead in implementing multiple Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) that are not yet supported by other networks, including EIP-3074, EIP-7212, and EIP-2537.
3. Committed to breaking through the gigagas speed (1 billion gas per second), Reth can achieve an execution speed of 1-3 billion gas per second under different configurations.
4. The code base is streamlined, including only 1,500 lines of Rust code including tests, and is now open source under the Apache/MIT license.
Paradigm said that the goal of AlphaNet is to provide developers with an experimental platform to help L2 network innovation and continue to break through Reth performance bottlenecks. AlphaNet's short-term plans include launching a managed version on Conduit, releasing a compatible Foundry toolchain, and experimenting with new features such as EIP-3074 using the Rivet wallet. In the medium and long term, Paradigm plans to continue adding more EIPs and implement parallel EVM, JIT/AOT optimization, state leasing and other technologies on AlphaNet, with the ultimate goal of working with the community to promote the expansion of Ethereum and its L2 ecosystem.
AlphaNet will be launched shortly after Reth 1.0, and is expected to be launched before the end of the second quarter.
