UK National Health Service chief calls on lawmakers to take action to prevent young people from becoming addicted to crypto trading

Amanda Pritchard, CEO of the UK National Health Service (NHS), has called on UK lawmakers to take action to prevent young people from becoming addicted to cryptocurrency trading. Speaking at the NHS Managers Conference in Manchester on June 12, Pritchard said that the NHS opened its fifteenth gambling addiction specialist clinic earlier this year in response to "growing real-world needs" and that "there are more and more opportunities for young people to become addicted to gambling, including in the unregulated cryptocurrency market." Pritchard added: "This addictive habit allows people to invest their money in things that have no fixed value, while the NHS is left to pick up the pieces - this growing problem is likely to create further demand on health services."
