According to BlockBeats, Helium Mobile announced on June 19 that it is launching a licensing program for its hotspot devices. These hotspots allow individuals or businesses to establish 'mini mobile signal towers', emitting mobile signals and paying tokens in exchange.
Currently, several third-party manufacturers and suppliers are providing services for the Helium Internet of Things (IoT) network, according to the Helium website. However, Helium Mobile is the only supplier offering mobile signal coverage devices at present. Through the licensing program, Helium Mobile aims to earn licensing fees from hotspots manufactured elsewhere, while also expanding its cellular network.
Helium Mobile is developed by Nova Labs. The mobile package operates by combining its proprietary distributed network coverage with services purchased from T-Mobile by Helium Mobile. The package was first trialed in Miami, then launched nationwide in December of the previous year, with a monthly fee of $20.
