KOR Protocol, a startup backed by Animoca Brands, has launched a new decentralized music platform, KOR Player, which allows users to play and remix music using a suite of tools including a “sound library” and identity verification services. It also integrates artificial intelligence to verify the source of the music and pay royalties in crypto.
According to a press release, KOR “aims to address the gray areas of music copyright law and the use of unauthorized IP in video games, live streaming, esports broadcasts, and other channels that attract large audiences, while providing artists and record companies with new distribution channels to reach fans and monetize their work.”
DJs including Joel Zimmerman (deadmau5), Plastkman, Inder Phull, Ben Turner, and Dean Wilson have joined as early supporters.
The startup claims to have 550,000 registered users and Japanese telecom giant KDDI is an early investor. (The Block)
