The previous week's figure was revised from 232,000 to 233,000. Continuing unemployment claims for the week ending August 17 were reported at 1.868 million, close to the anticipated 1.87 million. The prior week's number was adjusted from 1.863 million to 1.855 million. The four-week moving average of initial unemployment claims for the week ending August 24 was 231,500, revised from the previous value of 236,000 to 236,250.
