The New York Stock Exchange plans to extend weekday trading hours on its NYSE Arca stock exchange to 22 hours a day, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas on X Platform.
The NYSE, which is part of the Intercontinental Exchange, said the new extended trading hours for its all-electronic trading platform NYSE Arca will be 1:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
"NYSE's move to extend U.S. stock trading to 22 hours a day, five days a week highlights the strength of the U.S. capital markets and the growing global demand for our listed securities," said Kevin Tyrrell, head of markets at the NYSE. It also said it would seek support from the Securities Information Processing Corporation for expanded trading. The changes will be accompanied by updates to regulatory rules, and the NYSE said it will submit an updated framework to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
