Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg released a letter to employees stating that "the decision has been made to reduce the size of our team by approximately 13% and to let go of more than 11,000 talented employees. We have also taken some additional steps by Discretionary spending and extending the hiring freeze into the first quarter to become a leaner, more efficient company," and Meta will roll out more similar cost-cutting changes in the coming months. Among them, the laid-off employees will receive 16 weeks of basic salary, and there will be an additional two weeks for each additional year of working years, with no upper limit; Meta will also pay for six months of medical expenses for the laid-off employees and their families, and provide three months career support, including early access to unpublished job opportunities.
