Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said in a post on X: "We have let all the law firms we work with know that if they hire anyone who committed evil against the crypto industry in the (soon to be) previous government, we will no longer be their clients.
The senior partners of these law firms do not seem to know the crypto industry's position on this.
For example, Milbank Accounting Firm recently screwed up and hired Gurbir Grewal, the US SEC's director of enforcement. We are not working with them now (and will never work with them during Grewal's tenure).
In my opinion, it is unethical to try to illegally stifle an industry while refusing to publish clear rules. If you are a senior official there, you can't say you are just following orders. They can choose to leave the SEC, and many well-intentioned people have chosen to leave. This is not a normal SEC term.
They can go to work in other fields (I don't believe in permanently canceling people), but as an industry, we shouldn't put money in their pockets after being devastated. Let your law firm know that hiring these people means losing you as a client."
