Interactive Brokers founder recommends investing 2% to 3% of net worth in Bitcoin

Thomas Peterffy, the billionaire founder of retail brokerage Interactive Brokers Group Inc., said investors should own some bitcoin but should limit their holdings given the asset's volatility. "I recommend people put 2% to 3% of their net worth in bitcoin," he said in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Wednesday. "We wouldn't allow anyone to have more than 10% of their assets in bitcoin, for example, because I think it's very dangerous," he said. Peterffy, who has a net worth of about $53 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, said he was "a little scared" by the cryptocurrency's price volatility. "Cryptocurrency has no underlying value. The only value it has is the same as the paper dollar, which is 'nothing,'" he added.
