Brian Quintenz, a former U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) commissioner, has emerged as a top contender for CFTC chairman, and cryptocurrency regulation could change dramatically under Trump. Quintenz is currently the director of a16z crypto policy at a16z’s digital asset division.
People familiar with the matter said the Trump team has concluded interviews for the CFTC chairman and is expected to announce the candidate in the coming days.
If selected, Quintenz would serve as a bridge between the worlds of digital assets and traditional finance. Prior to joining the CFTC, he founded and led hedge fund Saeculum Capital Management and worked on Capitol Hill. (Bloomberg)
