U.S. government prosecutors overseeing the criminal case against Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon have estimated that his case could have more than one million victims worldwide.
In a Jan. 6 filing with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel Gitner informed the court of procedures for informing Kwon’s victims of their rights in the criminal case.
According to U.S. prosecutors, the government will establish a website for public proceedings regarding Kwon’s case because other methods of informing victims of their rights are “not feasible.” Gitner said: “While it is difficult to accurately quantify the number of Kwon’s victims given the volume of purchases and sales of Terraform cryptocurrencies and the manner in which they were traded (many transactions occurred on overseas exchanges and through digital asset wallets or crypto trading accounts without personally identifiable information), the government estimates that the number of victims in this case exceeds hundreds of thousands of individuals and entities and could total more than one million.” (Cointelegraph)
