Crypto exchange Kraken will pay more than $360,000 as part of a settlement with the U.S. Treasury Department, in addition to investing $100,000 to improve its compliance tools, the Financial Times reported. The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said Kraken processed more than 800 transactions worth about $1.68 million between 2015 and 2019 from users who appeared to be in Iran. Foresight News previously reported that in July this year, the U.S. Treasury Department was investigating whether Kraken violated federal sanctions by allowing Iranian users to trade digital currencies.
