On Tuesday, 41 individuals were hospitalised following a suspected food poisoning incident at the ByteDance office in One Raffles Quay, Singapore. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received multiple emergency calls regarding the incident at 3:15 pm.
Emergency Response
Initially, SCDF dispatched 15 ambulances to the scene, reporting that 30 individuals with symptoms such as abdominal pain and vomiting were taken to hospitals. This number was later updated to 17 ambulances and 41 people hospitalised.
Food Source Under Investigation
The affected individuals reportedly consumed food from the same source. ByteDance, in an announcement to employees, stated that the incident occurred after staff visited the L26 canteen. As a precaution, the buffet section at the canteen is closed pending investigations.

Company and Authorities' Actions
ByteDance is collaborating with local authorities and external food vendors to identify the cause of the incident. The company emphasised its commitment to employee health and safety, providing immediate support and setting up a temporary first aid centre in the building.
A ByteDance spokesperson confirmed the company’s proactive measures, stating: “We take the health and safety of our employees very seriously and have taken immediate steps to support all affected employees, including working with emergency services to provide care.”

The Ministry of Health and the Singapore Food Agency have been contacted for further comments on the situation. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning.
