In an email shared with employees ahead of the Web3 team’s launch, Google Cloud VP Amit Zavery reportedly shared his vision for making Google Cloud the go-to choice for Web3 developers:
"While the world is still in the early stages of embracing Web3, the market has shown great potential, with many customers asking us to add support for Web3 and encryption-related technologies."
In addition to leading marketing initiatives, some of the key responsibilities of this role include developing an annual plan for Web3 and raising awareness of Web3's diverse audiences.
Job locations are limited to New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Sunnyvale. Google is known to have created and abandoned many internal initiatives, however, this is Google's first attempt to delve into Web3.
In a conversation with Cointelegraph during the 2022 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, Polkadot (DOT) founder Gavin Wood spoke about the development of Web3. According to Wood, Web3 applications don't need to evolve beyond their current uses:
"I don't think Web3 really needs to evolve much from its origins, but maybe in the future, it will."
Additionally, Wood explained how Web3 is advancing the conversation beyond Bitcoin, smart contracts, and decentralized finance (DeFi) into the underlying technologies that drive the crypto world.
