The non-fungible token (NFT) of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey's first tweet on Twitter is currently trying to attract bids, but the bids are only 1% of last year's selling price .
About a year ago, on March 22, 2021, the iconic "genesis tweet" was sold for 1630 ETH, worth $2.9 million. The highest bid currently auctioned on NFT marketplace OpenSea is 10.3 ETH, worth about $31,739.

The owner of the NFT, Bridge Oracle founder Sina Estavi, hopes the tweet will bring in at least $50 million, tweeting on April 7 that he will give away half of it after the auction ends. Donate to charity.
Estavi appears to have grossly overpriced the tweet. When he initially listed the NFT on OpenSea, the highest bid was around $277. Currently, the average bid is around $8,731.
The lack of interest in this piece of social media history may be a symptom of a general waning froth across the crypto industry. Although NFT trading volume has been on the rise over the past month, it remains well below all-time highs. Trading volumes on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and decentralized exchanges (DEXs) have also been declining.
Using NFT art to support Ukrainian refugees
Four Sydney-based Ukrainian artists are using the popularity of NFT digital art to raise funds to aid more than five million refugees from the beleaguered country.
The OpenYourHeart campaign hopes to raise at least $5 million through the sale of four limited-edition NFTs, along with ETH donated to Habitat for Humanity. The artworks will be sold at an auction on May 5.
Olena Vigovska, one of the four artists, believes the sale offers him a way to help his fellow countrymen and family in his home country.
"My friends and relatives are still in Ukraine and any opportunity to help them is precious."
