With China's burgeoning influence in the technology sector, Saudi Arabia regards China as a crucial and strategic partner in their mutual endeavors.

In the wake of the recent expansion of the BRICS alliance, Saudi Arabia and China have intensified their cooperation efforts, culminating in a joint venture to create a novel AI system known as AceGPT.

ACEGPT

An AI program tailored for the Arabic language, named AceGPT, is the outcome of the collective efforts of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and the two Chinese universities.

AceGPT is constructed on Meta's LlaMA2 Program.

The project was initiated by Chinese-American progress at KAUST, working alongside the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHKSZ), and the Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data (SRIBD).

AceGPT's Limitation

The project's GitHub page outlines the model's primary function as an AI assistant tailored for Arabic speakers, capable of responding to queries in the Arabic language.

However, a disclaimer on the page specifies that it may not yield "satisfactory results" when dealing with other languages.

Furthermore, the developers have made enhancements to the model to enable it to detect potential forms of misuse.

This includes identifying instances where sensitive information is mishandled, generating harmful content, perpetuating misinformation, or failing to meet safety standards.

In July, the Saudi central bank collaborated with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority to explore tokens and payments.

Additionally, in February, the Saudi government joined forces with The Sandbox metaverse platform, accelerating their metaverse initiatives for the future.

This initiative further underscores the year's overarching commitment to advancing artificial intelligence technology.
