Ethereum's Layer 2 solution zkSync, along with Optimism, Arbitrum, and Starknet, is known as one of the "Four Kings of Layer 2." From 2022 to February 2024, Optimism, Arbitrum, and Starknet completed their respective token airdrop events, leading users to speculate that zkSync would follow suit soon.
This afternoon, the zkSync community organization ZK Nation announced the $ZK tokenomics, the eagerly awaited $ZK airdrop rules, allocation, and query website on the X platform.
On its official website, zkSync introduced ZK Nation, describing it as a community driven by a common goal to manage, protect, and develop the zkSync protocol.
ZK Airdrop Query
Users can check their eligibility on the claim.zknation.io website and claim tokens starting next week, with the claim period ending on January 3, 2025.
ZK Airdrop Allocation and Eligibility Criteria
According to a ZK Nation blog post, the ZK airdrop will account for 17.5% of the total supply, with 695,232 wallet addresses eligible. There are two ways to qualify for the airdrop:
- Users (89%): zkSync users who have transacted and met activity thresholds on zkSync.
- Contributors (11%): Individuals, developers, researchers, communities, and companies who have contributed to the zkSync ecosystem and protocol through development, promotion, or education, regardless of their activity on zkSync.
Additionally, zkSync will check the transactions of addresses on zkSync Era and zkSync Lite against the eligibility criteria. Each address must have at least one point to qualify for the airdrop, with each criterion earning 1 point. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Interacted with more than 10 smart contracts on zkSync Era
- Provided liquidity in DeFi protocols
- Used paymaster at least 5 times
- Transacted with 10 different ERC20 tokens on zkSync Era
- Owned a Libertas Omnibus NFT
- Donated to Gitcoin on zkSync Lite
- Interacted in at least 3 months before zkSync Era went live
After confirming wallet eligibility, the value distribution for each address will be calculated based on the number of points and multipliers, with a maximum of 100,000 ZK tokens per address.
The airdrop eligibility and allocation are based on the zkSync Era and zkSync Lite activity snapshot taken at 00:00 UTC on March 24, 2024, marking the first anniversary of the zkSync Era mainnet launch.
