Among DeFi platforms this year, LSD has been one of the most prominent tracks. Recently, there's been notable attention on the Ethereum re-staking protocol, 'EigenLayer.' The protocol announced the launch of the EigenLayer and the second phase testnet EigenDA in the middle of the month.
Participate in EigenLayer Testnet
According to Blockworks' latest report (the 28th), Google Cloud has joined the "EigenLayer Operator Working Group" along with more than 65 operators and independent participants. They will operate as node operators on the Goerli testnet, participating in testing the restaking protocol.
However, it's worth noting that when the node operation enters the mainnet, Google Cloud has yet to confirm if it will continue as a node operator. EigenLayer is expected to launch the second phase mainnet in the first half of 2024.
Representatives from Google Cloud said,
"They expect Google Cloud’s support to continue, since the goal of testnet is to prepare for mainnet."
What is EigenLayer?
EigenLayer launched in June this year, enabling staked ETH to be used as cryptoeconomic security for protocols other than Ethereum, in exchange for protocol fees and rewards. Restaking is available for both natively staked ETH and liquid staked tokens.
