Google has just left Bitcoin investors scratching their heads as to why the search engine has removed the live price charts for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from its search results. Users noticed that the usual charts are no longer there when they type in keywords like Bitcoin price or Ethereum price.
This feature has been there since 2018. This change has been ongoing for the past few days, making many wonder if this is just a temporary glitch or a permanent decision. Till date, Google hasn't given a statement explaining the changes. But this could also be an experiment conducted by the Google algorithm before the upcoming election.
Fans are interpreting this move as an attack on the decentralisation. An X user by the name of Willy said in a post,
"Google removed Bitcoin chart and price from it search, Twitter (X) removed the Bitcoin hashtag icon… this is proving the desperation of the people in power, they can’t attack Bitcoin in any other way that could be actually relevant. They are freaking out, they are desperate!"
Another user also wrote on SoSoVaue platform, saying
"It is a good sign, it says Bitcoin is something no one can ignore, especially Google in this case, a company so pro-digital. The fight is not just about the adoption of the cryptocurrency by the population, but the interest of the companies that manage the part of the digital age."
But not all cryptocurrencies are affected. For example, Google only removed Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana price charts from its search results, while retailing other currencies like XRP and Doge price charts.
While the cryptocurrency price charts are no longer automatically shown, stock and index graphs are still visible in the search results. Users can even find a chart that offered a chart that showed the current rates of most popular cryptocurrencies, so a user could check prices at any time.
But you can still get access to all the information you need through the Google Finance page.
Cryptocurrency lovers are currently waiting to see if Google will be bringing back these price charts or whether this is going to be a new norm when it comes to the display of cryptocurrency information on the internet.
But for now, users will have to use other social media apps to get updates on the prices of cryptocurrencies.
