Michael Jackson, the globally renowned late singer and "King of Pop", will have the demo version of his first single, "Big Boy," which he sang at the age of 9, released worldwide in digital record format through the blockchain music platform Anotherblock on December 7th. "Big Boy" was released on July 26, 1968, by The Jackson 5, a group Michael Jackson formed with his family members when he was 9 years old.
The Collaboration with Anotherblock
The song titled "Big Boy (One-Derful Version)," released on Anotherblock, will be available for listening on the platform's player. It will be released digitally on the blockchain music platform Anotherblock. You can access it through the platform's player along with the master tape and song stems images. This release will be available for four days as both an open edition and a limited edition.
The launch stems from a partnership between Recordpool, the holder of the recording, and Anotherblock, a Swedish music and royalty marketplace built on blockchain technology.
Anotherblock has also collaborated with other well-known musicians such as Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber.
The "Digital Vinyl"
The Anotherblock’s CEO and co-founder, Michel Traore told Cointelegraph,
"Doing this drop as a digital vinyl on-chain makes it possible to build stories and community around the song and elevate it beyond being just a commodity."
He also said,
"This new format gives us a chance to craft more stories around the music."
Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother, expressed her excitement about the release and said,
"Recordings of our musical heritage find a new rhythm for the digital age. It is a testament that the Jacksons' story, just like our music, remains timeless."
