Cause:
Casey @rodarmor released Ordinals version 0.14.0, which is Last update before Jubilee (Ordinals anniversary/big event) comes. The next big update will probably be #Runes.
Unisat:
Will follow Casey's Jubilee upgrade, To confirm that BRC20 is still on Ordinals and not split into independent protocols. The most important gift to the BRC20 community will be the release of the white paper on January 31, 2024. We will delay the development of other tasks at hand and do everything we can to prevent BRC20 from splitting with Ordinals.
Unisat OS:
Pre-emptive, I will follow Casey Upgrade agreement, those who do not follow the upgrade are splitting BRC20. Knowing that no one likes division, I have repeatedly stressed that we must stop division and stand on a high moral ground. Unisat also took advantage of the opportunity to publish a white paper related to BRC20, which was also a reason for Domo to jump in.
Domo:
I also want to enhance the protocol, but Blindly updating BRC20 is reckless and may cause asset damage. This was a unilateral act by Unisat, premeditated to gain control of the BRC20 protocol. I implore the BRC20 community to collectively reject Unisat’s proposed fork and support maintaining the protocol in a non-profit, security-first manner.
Domo OS:
Damn it, I don’t even have one When it comes to upgrading, you jumped out first and released a white paper. Do you want to compete with me for control of the protocol? You also said that I forked, and you were the fork. We all know that the safety of funds is the most important thing, but Domo makes a fuss about safety and has repeatedly emphasized that blind upgrades are unsafe and will lead to asset losses.
The deeper reason for this controversy is to gain the right to speak and control the agreement.
@lorenzonical is an innovative person. He once said that the core advantage of Unisat is BRC20. Everything will be done based on BRC20, and BTC expansion will also be done tied to BRC20. Therefore, he needs to gain control of the BRC20 protocol to make adjustments to the BRC20 protocol.
@domodata is a conservative. As the founder of the BRC20 protocol, he is definitely not willing to leave the protocol out of his control. One reason for his reluctance to upgrade was also due to the Runes that Casey would release later.
Both sides are arguing for their own interests.
Of course, in the end it still depends on the attitude of @okx who controls more than 80% of the market. I communicated privately with the product manager of OK Wallet. At present, OK still maintains a neutral attitude, and will ultimately choose the solution direction based on the user's choice.
