Hamster Kombat, a Telegram tap-to-earn game, is gearing up for what it claims to be the "largest airdrop in the history of crypto."
The team announced in a new whitepaper that 60% of the upcoming airdrop will be allocated to players.
The remaining tokens will be used for market liquidity, ecosystem partnerships, grants, and other purposes.
Hamster Kombat airdrop delayed
Initially scheduled for this month, the airdrop has faced delays due to its technical complexity. The developers have not provided a specific timeline, citing the unpredictable nature of the implementation process. Despite these challenges, the game boasts a growing community, reportedly attracting 300 million users. The game's daily active user count stands at 50 million, spread across 190 countries.
No External Investments
The Hamster Kombat team emphasises that the project is not supported by external investments, implying that the value of the HMSTR token will be determined by organic demand and community interest. This stance is intended to avoid additional selling pressure that could arise from institutional backers.
“Since we have neither investment firms nor VCs backing us, there is no extra sell pressure, and the community-driven token and its value will be determined by demand, supply, and community interest.”
Hamster Kombat Future Ecosystem Plans
Beyond the initial airdrop, Hamster Kombat aims to develop a broader gaming ecosystem.
The team plans to establish the Hamster Foundation, which will focus on creating new revenue streams and supporting game studios through marketing and collaboration opportunities.
Future ecosystem grants may also be available for third-party developers, potentially denominated in fiat currency to protect the HMSTR token's value.
Hamster Kombat may drop the largest airdrop in crypto history
While ambitious, the planned airdrop will need to surpass previous high-profile events, such as Uniswap's $6.43 billion UNI airdrop, to claim the title of the largest in history.
The project draws inspiration from the success of Notcoin, another Telegram-based game that previously conducted a significant airdrop.
