The classic cartoon, which made its debut in December 1989, aired its annual Halloween episode, known for its witty references. This year's "Treehouse of Horrors XXXIV" featured a segment titled "Wild Barts Can't be Token," where Bart embarks on a blockchain adventure.

As Bart steps into a scanner designed to digitize Springfield's art collection, he is transformed into digital data and enters the blockchain. In a humorous twist, Bart's digital self is valued at $1.5 million, becoming the first NFT of a human being.

Marge, Bart's mother, enters the blockchain as well after obtaining a cryptographic key from three celebrities. She embarks on a journey within the blockchain's "block train," drawing inspiration from the film "Snowpiercer."

The segment playfully references well-known NFT collections like Beeple's HUMAN ONE, Dmitri Cherniak's Goose, Bored Apes, Cryptokitties, Doodles, Punks, and Nyan Cat.

Despite poking fun at the NFT community, the episode has been well-received, even inspiring the creation of the "Springfield Punks" collection by Italian artist Rinaldo Russo.

The Web3 community has embraced the episode's humor, creating memes and reviving interest in Simpson-inspired NFT derivatives. Some NFT prices have experienced an uptick.

NFT collectors are speculating whether The Simpsons' mention could influence the NFT market, with CryptoPunks experiencing a surge in their floor price, and NFTbark, a former PR firm for traditional companies, considering this a significant moment for NFTs in pop culture.
