Ripple CTO Warns Of New Phishing Scam And Denies Being Bitcoin's Creator

According to U.Today, Ripple's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), David Schwartz, has issued a warning about a new phishing scam circulating on the social media platform known as X, previously Twitter. Schwartz, who uses the handle @JoelKatz on X, shared a tweet from user @3YearLetterman, which included a screenshot of a direct message (DM) he had recently received. Schwartz advised the XRP community that such a DM is fraudulent. The DM claimed to be from the X support team, informing the recipient that their account was under investigation for copyright violations. The recipient was asked to respond within 24 hours by following a link to complete a form, with the threat of account suspension for non-compliance. Schwartz cautioned his followers against following such links, explaining that they lead to a phishing site that collects users' login and personal information. In other news, Schwartz recently refuted rumors suggesting he is the elusive creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. He shared a post denying these allegations, which he often has to dispel despite their persistence within the crypto community. Schwartz posted a selfie from the Consensus2024 event featuring an anonymous individual wearing a golden mask and hood, similar to the anonymity preferred by Satoshi Nakamoto. He captioned the photo, 'Finally, absolute proof I am not Satoshi.' Schwartz had previously stated that the idea of him being Satoshi was 'not true but plausible.'
