According to Odaily, BNB Chain has announced the successful adaptation and integration of the Ethereum client Erigon 3 with the Parlia consensus protocol. Parlia, the consensus mechanism used by BNB Chain (BSC), combines features of Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) and Proof of Authority (PoA). This mechanism allows BNB holders to elect validators, aiming to achieve faster block times and lower transaction costs. The integration of Erigon 3 with Parlia is expected to enhance performance for users.
On the BSC testnet (Chapel), Erigon 3 has demonstrated significant performance improvements, including a 50% reduction in disk usage and a decrease in synchronization time from one week to approximately 10 hours. BNB Chain plans to release the mainnet version around September 30, 2024, while continuing to support Erigon 2 for a period to ensure a smooth transition. Currently, the Erigon 3 Alpha 2 version is live on the testnet, and users are encouraged to test and provide feedback.
