According to Odaily, BNB Chain has announced that its Layer 2 solution, opBNB, has doubled its throughput to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS), up from the previous 5,000 TPS. This significant performance enhancement was achieved by increasing the block gas limit from 100M/s to 200M/s.
The opBNB team implemented several optimizations to reach this milestone. These include improvements in scheduling logic, the removal of a previous 600ms hard time limit, and the introduction of L1 state prefetch and caching mechanisms, which reduced L1 state retrieval time from over 200ms to less than 10ms. Additionally, the block production process was optimized with transaction execution caching and concurrent block submission.
These enhancements enable opBNB to better support high-performance applications such as trading decentralized applications (dApps) and blockchain games.
