彭博社写道，至少有两家没有受到西方制裁的最大金属生产商已经开始使用 Tether Holdings Ltd 稳定币和其他加密货币来结算与主要是中国客户和供应商的国际交易。在某些情况下，付款是通过香港进行的。
彭博社写道：”在2022年2月入侵乌克兰开始两年后，俄罗斯大型企业开始转向区块链，这一事实凸显了为应对战争而对该国经济实施的国际限制所产生的长期影响。”
据悉，自入侵乌克兰以来，俄罗斯的原材料贸易公司，从金属（包括镍和钢）到木材，在收到货款、购买设备和原材料方面都遇到了问题。即使是在中国，今年的金融交易也变得更加困难。因为中国没有加入对俄罗斯的国际制裁，而且已经成为俄罗斯许多商品的主要出口市场，也是商品和设备的供应国。这主要是由于美国财政部发出了二次制裁的警告。
与此同时，一些商品公司选择了不同的付款方式。例如，一些钢铁生产商使用所谓的易货交易，即用货物交换向俄罗斯供应的货物。消息人士补充称，通过这种方式，他们可以完全避免跨境转移。
