$HMSTR to Launch on TON on 26 September
Hamster Kombat, Telegram's leading tap-to-earn game, announced that it will launch the long-awaited HMSTR token on The Open Network (TON) on 26 September, with an airdrop for players on the same day.
Users can check the airdrop section of the Hamster Kombat app to see which items are involved in the token distribution.
Initially scheduled for a July release, the token's launch was delayed for additional planning due to the large scale of the drop.
Since its launch this spring, Hamster Kombat has attracted over 300 million players, with more than 80 million active in the past month alone, according to data from Telegram.
Built on the TON blockchain, the game requires players to have a TonCoin wallet to fully engage.
The HMSTR tokens distributed via the airdrop will be tradable on exchanges once listed.
This announcement follows a significant network outage on TON, attributed to the token launch of another project called DOGS, but the network has since resumed normal operations after a second outage.
Additionally, the news of the airdrop coincides with recent headlines involving Telegram's CEO and founder, Pavel Durov, who was arrested in France on charges including distributing child pornography, facilitating drug trafficking, and using cryptology without government approval.
Will $HMSTR Pump After its Launch?
Leveraging Telegram's substantial fan base, Notcoin attracted up to 35 million players prior to the launch of its native token, NOT.
Unsurprisingly, NOT has been a resounding success, achieving a peak market capitalisation of over $2.5 billion.
Despite the bearish pressure on Notcoin, particularly following the arrest of Durov, it still commands a valuation of over $925 million.
Meanwhile, experts are optimistic that Hamster Kombat could surpass Notcoin's success.
Its crypto exchange CEO simulation game has drawn as many as 300 million players cumulatively, including 80 million active players last month in July.
This is significantly more than Notcoin's figures.
However, while experts are bullish on HMSTR's long-term prospects, they anticipate considerable short-term volatility.
The Hamster Kombat airdrop is scheduled for 26 September, coinciding with its token generation event (TGE).
Consequently, the HMSTR price may experience significant selling pressure as airdrop participants liquidate their gains.
Notcoin exhibited similar behaviour, declining after its airdrop on 16 May.
As a large-cap token, Hamster Kombat may struggle to counteract the broader bearish sentiment.
Nevertheless, following Notcoin's substantial success, experts are confident that HMSTR will also see significant long-term growth.
They are, however, also expecting short-term fluctuations due to the upcoming airdrop and broader market uncertainty.
Savvy investors are already positioning themselves by accumulating low-cap GameFi-themed meme coins such as PlayDoge and Shiba Shootout, which could yield substantial returns amidst the Hamster Kombat hype.
