Memecoin Frenzy Fuels Mobile Sales

The Solana phone, once lagging in sales, is now experiencing a surprising uptick in demand. This resurgence is largely attributed to the memecoin BONK, particularly an enticing airdrop offer linked to the phone. Arbitrage traders are keenly eyeing the opportunity to acquire 30 million BONK tokens, offered to each owner of the Saga phone. The value of this airdrop, considering the current market price, is around $700, exceeding the phone's $599 cost.

Raj Gokal, Solana's co-founder, shared an optimistic update via a tweet: "Saga sales have >10x'd in the past 48 hours, and are now on track to sell out before the new year." The surge in demand is so significant that Anatoly Yakovenko, another key figure at Solana, mentioned the need to increase the phone's price.

The Saga phone's sudden popularity can be traced back to the BONK craze. BONK, a dog-themed cryptocurrency akin to Dogecoin, has captivated the crypto community's interest. Just a week ago, the Saga phone, with its blockchain compatibility and secure crypto storage features, faced bleak sales. However, the BONK phenomenon has dramatically altered its trajectory.

The Saga Discord server was abuzz with activity, as new members shared their excitement about purchasing the phone to partake in the BONK airdrop. Information sourced from the server indicates that the airdrop is accessible via the BONK app, downloadable from Saga's specialized crypto app store. A Solana Mobile employee on the Discord server explained, "When you physically have the phone you will be able to mint 'Genesis token' through the 'dApp store, [this token is eligible to claim the bonk drop."
