Verified accounts will display a unique new badge instead of the traditional blue checkmark. Telegram highlighted in a blog post that this decentralized verification platform effectively prevents scams, reduces misinformation, and sets a new security standard for social platforms. Additionally, Telegram has introduced a method to convert gifts into NFTs with custom backgrounds and icons. Users can send gifts by spending Telegram Stars, which can be purchased in-app or on the Fragment website after connecting a TON crypto wallet. Telegram stated that users will be able to trade these NFTs across different platforms. It is noteworthy that Telegram will charge users for upgrading gifts to collectibles to cover blockchain transaction fees. The company also uses cryptocurrency to provide monetization opportunities for creators and as a payment method for games and mini-apps on the platform. Furthermore, Telegram has added emoji reaction features for service messages, such as when someone joins a group, and introduced new search filters for private chats, group chats, and channels.
