Adidas Originals and BAPE Introduce Limited-Edition Sneaker Collaboration with NFT Twist

Adidas Originals and BAPE, have joined forces to introduce a unique sneaker collaboration named Triple-White Forum 84 BAPE Low.

This special collection comes with an intriguing twist involving NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) that could potentially be worn in virtual spaces.

This marks a new approach for Adidas, being the first time they're using an auction for an NFT-focused launch.

The collaboration is supported by the Adidas /// Studio (Three Stripes Studio) and will feature an auction format using redeemable NFTs through the Adidas Collect platform.

The highlight of this collaboration is the introduction of 100 Ethereum NFTs, which can be later exchanged for one of the 100 corresponding pairs of sneakers.

Each pair of these sneakers is equipped with an NFC chip placed in the left tongue.

When scanned with a smartphone, this chip provides access to the NFT-based certificate of authenticity.

Upon redeeming the NFT for the physical sneakers, buyers will also receive a "digital twin" Ethereum NFT.

This NFT will be "interoperable" with Adidas' ALTS avatar project, hinting at the possibility of wearing these sneakers in virtual environments.

Adidas has previously suggested that owners of their tokens could exchange them for functional avatars.

Design-wise, the sneakers showcase BAPE's distinct symbols, including a shooting star pattern on the side and the "A Bathing Ape" logo in metallic silver foil.

This white color scheme, different from previous camouflage variations, is tied to a concept involving a "pristine laundrette" situated in a mysterious desert.

The Adidas Originals x BAPE "Fresh Forum" access pass NFT auction is scheduled to commence on August 22, lasting for 72 hours until August 25.

Holders of Adidas' 2,298 ALT[er] Ego "Soles" and members of the BAPE: (B)APETAVERSE community will enjoy a 10% premium advantage during bidding. Bids can be placed based on shoe sizes, and while only one active bid per size is allowed, potential buyers can place multiple bids.

According to Adidas, the bidding starts at 0.3 ETH (approximately $550) with no maximum bid limit.

The 100 winners of the Adidas Originals x BAPE NFT auction will be able to exchange their tokens for the physical sneakers and digital twin, starting from September 26 via Adidas Collect.

Shipping is set to commence in October.
